STIs

Everyone gets infections sometimes. When you get a cold you've been infected with a cold virus or bacteria.

Sexually transmitted infections, or STIs, are just infections that prefer to hang around your private parts. Sometimes they'll spread to other parts of your body too, but not always.

Some STIs don't do you much harm. Others could make you very sick, or even kill you.

Every infection needs a way to spread. For instance, the virus that causes colds is spread through tiny droplets from sneezing and coughing. Sexually transmitted infections, or STIs for short, get from one person to another during sexual contact.
